Camaron Marlar won the Ultimate Heart of America sanctioned Butch Shay Memorial at Richmond Raceway last night over James Rice and Kaede Loudy. The win guarantees Marlar a starting spot in next month's Butterball Memorial at the track.
Marlar , who started fourth , took the lead just past the halfway point. He would later say in victory lane he was just happy to finish a feature there as he has had bad luck there for years failing to finish an A Main. He would also say he hated to pass Loudy for the lead and was kinda rooting for the young driver.
Hoosier driver Devin Gilpin would top qualifying over the 31 entrants. Heat wins went to James Rice , Loudy , Weiss , and Marlar. Jason Barrett took the B Main win.
Josh Rice was forced to give up his sixth starting spot as they discovered a blown head gasket. Loudy would get the lead from his outside front row starting spot and led until lap 21 when Marlar took control.
The next series race will be Saturday at Paducah paying $5,000 to the winner.
