Chris Simpson charged from his ninth starting spot to take the lead on lap 11 to win the opening night of the Ron Jenkins Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway. It was Simpson's first win since April of last year. Hall of famer Billy Moyer would finish second with Tony Jackson Jr filling out the MLRA podium.
28 MLRA Late Models signed in with young Kayden Clatt topping qualifying. Heat race wins went to Jeff Herzog, Ryan Johnson, Billy Moyer, and Trevor Gundaker. Officials decided to start all 28 cars so no B Main was ran.
Chad Simpson, MLRA point leader and Chris's brother, would finish 4th and holds a slim 15 point lead as they'll race again tonight at Lucas Oil Speedway with $12,000 going to the winner.
Ron Jenkins was the original builder of Wheatland Raceway. If you can't make it to the track you can catch the action live on FloRacing
