The night started off with Kyle Larson setting fast time over the 48 entrants. Track conditions were much different then Saturday's track conditions being fast and building up a big cushion on the top side.
The four heat races were won by Alberson , Davenport , Sheppard , and Bobby Pierce with Moyer and Erb taking the B Main wins to make it into the 40 lap Feature. Louisinana's Clayton Stuckey would take the last chance dash to tag the tail of the main event.
Alberson would lead the field to green after drawing the pole position in the heat race winner's redraw but JD would quickly overtake him before the first lap was completed. Although Davenport would lead all 40 laps it was far from a runaway race that we usually see when the Lance Landers owned Longhorn gets out in clean air.
JD was holding a somewhat comfortable lead before the first caution would slow the field on lap 13 for Cade Dillard who appeared to jump the cushion on the exit of turn 2 to the backstretch wall. Several cars were struggling to get the car straight flirting with the backstretch wall killing their momentum for turns 3 &4.
The green would replace the yellow after getting the 97 of Dillard off the track and that's when it started getting interesting for the race lead. B Shepp would try to chase down the leader before Larson found his groove and overtook the Berlin, IL driver setting his sights on JD. Larson would throw a slider around lap 19 setting up an epic battle the last half of the race.
The 2nd and final caution would wave on lap 26 for Don Shaw but it didn't kill the action for the race lead when they resumed. As the 49 entered lap traffic with Larson close behind it brought Bobby Pierce up to enter the shootout for the race lead as he was throwing sliders on Larson for the runner up spot.
The trio of Longhorn's battled hard through lap traffic but the runner ups could not overtake the Cornett Racing Engine power plant of Davenport as Larson gave it one last chance with a few laps to go but could not get the slider to stick allowing Davenport to pull away to the 1.840 second victory
The victory keeps the $300,000 and a Chevy Silverado truck bonus alive for Davenport with 4 features left on the schedule for The Wild West Shootout. They will get a couple of days off as the racing resumes Wednesday. If you can't make it to Vado all the live racing action can be seen on FloRacing.
