Ryan Gustin passed Brandon Sheppard with 2 laps to go to pick up the win last night at Cedar Lake. Sheppard would settle for 2nd with pole sitter Jonathan Davenport rounding out the podium.
Davenport would set fast time for Friday's program just as he did earlier in the day for the rained out Thursday's preliminary event. "Superman" would also take the win in his heat along with Shirley,Pierce,Hoffman,Smith, and Sheppard.
Davenport would jump out to the early lead from his pole starting spot. Davenport would lead until BShepp took the lead away on lap 18. Sheppard would hold the lead until "The Reaper" made his charge running the top to take the win.
Pierce was seeking history going for his 7th consecutive World of Outlaws win in a row after he won earlier in the day but his bid would end early after being wrecking on lap 5.
Gustin said in victory lane that he gave it hell up there on the top and just hope he didn't eat the fence. He hopes they don't have to do that for 100 laps tonight for the USA Nationals.
