Ryan Gustin used the high line to get around leader Chris Simpson with nine laps to go to win night one of the Lucas Oil MLRA Fall Nationals. Simpson finished just a half second behind the winner as track champion Justin Wells rounded out the podium.
Stormy Scott kicked the night off topping the 34 cars in qualifying. Jon Binning, Kuykendall, Chris Simpson and Gustin all took the heat race wins. B Main winners were Aaron Marrant and Joe Gorby.
Simpson jumped out to the early race lead from his outside front row starting spot. He would hold the lead until Gustin took over on lap 11 but 9 laps later Simpson went back to the lead.
Gustin seen Simpson's stick guy signal to number 32 to run the bottom Gustin knew he had to run the top groove for a chance to win. He found enough speed to grab the lead for good on lap 21 of 30 to pick up the $5,000 win. His first series win since 2020.
Fast qualifier Stormy Scott finished fourth with Tony Jackson Jr rounding out the top five. Point leader Chad Simpson spun while running 8th and finished 14th allowing Jackson to gain points in the season standings.
Earl Pearson Jr reunited with Black Diamond Race Cars for the weekend and took a Provisional to charge to a 8th place finish.
They will do it all again tonight for another $5,000 payday. If you can't make it Lucas Oil Speedway catch it live on FloRacing.
