Hoffman Wins Gator on Last Lap Pass

We all know that Nick Hoffman has won enough Gators at Volusia Speedway to start his own gator farm but last night was his first behind the wheel of a late model. Hoffman used a last lap last turn slider past Chris Madden to pick up the win. Last year's World of Outlaws champion , Bobby Pierce , rounded out the podium. Ricky Thornton Jr and Daulton Wilson finished out the top 5 running order.

48 World of Outlaws Late Models took time with Chris "Smoky" Madden topping the scoreboard with the fastest time. He also won his heat along with Hoffman , RTJ , Pierce , Bruening and teammate Marlar. Chase Junghans and Max Blair took B Main wins.

Mike Marlar drew the lucky number 1 in the redraw to start on the pole of the 35 lap feature.

"The Winfield Warrior" would lead the first 7 laps before being overtaken by Ricky Thornton Jr when Marlar jumped the cushion. RTJ wouldn't hold it long as he would do the same thing on lap 10 giving the lead back to the red 157.

The fast qualifier , Madden , would take control on lap 20. Pierce and Hoffman both were closing in the leader but catching them and passing them are two different things. Pierce would say later that when he would get close to Madden "dirty air" would change the handling and he would lose ground.

With three to go Hoffman slipped thinking that he gave away any chance at the victory but grabbed the wheel and smashed The Loud Pedal and slid across the leader for the win. Madden would later say that his car just couldn't steer as good yielding the lead and win to Hoffman.
