Jonathan Davenport remains perfect at Vado Speedway Park as "The Two Million Dollar" man wins again to keep his hopes of a $300,000 win bonus alive. The night started out with Bobby Pierce topping the charts in qualifying.
Pierce would go on to win his heat race going to the redraw along with Bagley , Davenport and Brandon Sheppard. Davenport would draw the 1 in the heat race winners redraw ending Garrett Alberson's pole streak.
At the drop of the green Davenport jumped out to the early lead that he would hold the entire race but was anything but easy out in front as he would enter lap traffic on lap 10
On lap 15 Piece would pass Brandon Sheppard for the runner up spot and quickly was on the rear spoiler of the leader Davenport. Most of the slower traffic was holding their lines on the bottom lane of the track while the lead trio was banging the cushion to keep their momentum going down the straightaways.
Davenport made some daring slide jobs while in slower traffic keeping his advantage over Pierce but never could shake the "Smooth Operator" as Pierce was waiting for a mistake to pounce for the lead. It got real hairy for Davenport while attempting to put Terrt Phillips a lap down when Phillips exited turn 2 on the bottom sliding across the slick track to the top of the backstretch wall right in front of the leader.
Pierce could never set up Davenport to attempt a slider for the lead and "Superman" would cross under the checkers ahead by .670 seconds in front of Pierce with Brandon Sheppard rounding out the Longhorn Chassis podium finish. The Sniper Chassis of Ricky Weiss would finish 4th for another solid quiet run. Mike Marlar , another Longhorn driver , would round out the top 5 from his 10th starting spot.
The race ran caution free with only 10 cars on the lead lap. Davenport would thank the lapped cars for giving him room with the race win on the line as he would say he knew he didn't give them much room as he would pass them to keep his win streak alive. JD would also talk about how each night the track conditions have been different so none of the drivers can get comfortable having the same track from night to night.
Jonathan and the rest of the drivers will go again tonight live on FloRacing with hot laps starting at approximately 4:30. The feature will once again be 30 laps can Davenport once again win to keep his steak alive or will his hopes of a $300,000 bonus be shot down? Tune in to find out!
