Dale McDowell and Zack Mitchell put on a show for the fans at Talladega Short Track last night in the Hunt the Front Super Series feature. The last four laps seen the leaders not just battle each other for the win but battle side by side lapped cars.
As the flagman waved the white flag McDowell went to the outside and powered ahead the race long leader. McDowell would take the checkers .711 ahead of Mitchell. Garrett Alberson would finish third in his first race with the series. Chris Ferguson and Ashton Winger round out top five.
With all the rainouts Talladega Short Track had 50 late models sign in for night one. Garrett Alberson would top the qualifying charts. Heat race winners were Alberson, Seawright, McDowell, Mitchell,Weiss, and Chris Ferguson. The talk of the night was in heat race four involving Tyler Erb, who was driving Matt Tift's car,and Josh Putnam. The two were battling for the final transfer spot until they had a disagreement on real estate. They locked together allowing Spencer Hughes to pass them both to transfer to the main event. Erb transferred out of the B Main while Putnam used a provisional.
They will do it all again tonight paying $12,000 to the winner.
