It's been 23 years since a Moran has been on the Eldora Speedway victory stage but last night Devin Moran and the family reunited with the most famous victory lane in dirt late model racing. Moran led every lap of the 50 lap $25,000 prelimary Dirt Late Model Dream feature first holding off Jonathan Davenport then at the end beat Dale McDowell by nearly two and half seconds. Last year's DTWC winner Brandon Sheppard rounded out the podium.
The split field would see 51 cars take time with Dale McDowell topping the charts. Heat race wins went to Tyler Erb , Trent Ivey , Jonathan Davenport , and Mike Marlar. B Main winners were Spencer Hughes and Jason Feger.
Moran blasted out to the lead from his pole starting spot and stretched the lead out enjoying that clean air. Jonathan Davenport started to reel in the 99 Longhorn Chassis of Moran when the only yellow waved on lap 21 for Ryan Gustin.
On the restart Davenport fired off almost perfect to pressure Moran for the lead but Moran was determined to get the win and held off "Superman" to battle with McDowell and Brandon Sheppard. Those 3 drivers battled until the checkers for the runner up spot as there was no denying Moran for the win. At one point JD fell back to fifth as Nick Hoffman got under Davenport for fourth before losing it back to the reigning Dream Champion.
When the checkers fell everyone knew it was going to be a special victory lane celebration. The Moran family and crew joined the emotional winner on stage and continued to celebrate afterwards at the Double Down Motorsports hauler. Savanna , Devin's sister , is one of the Miss Eldora ladies and for the first time got to pose for pictures with her brother.
Tonight will be the six heat races lined up by points earned for the $100,030 payday. Lineups can be seen on LOUD PEDAL REPORT Facebook page. FloRacing will be live for those who can't make it to the Big E.
