Bobby Pierce had to work last night to pick up win number 31 for the year and his 7th career win on the series. He came from his 7th starting spot to pass leader Ryan Gustin on lap 30 to secure the win. Gustin held on for runner up honors with Sheppard third.
20 XR Super Series Late Models were on hand for night 1 of the Yankee Dirt Classic at 300 Raceway in Farley,Iowa. Tyler Bruening stopped the clock the quickest in qualifying and took his heat race win as well as Tyler Erb and Gustin.
At the drop of the green Terbo would take control of the race from his outside front row starting spot. Erb led until lap 25 when he got into the frontstretch wall. Gustin made right side contact when Erb slowed from getting into the wall.
Pierce admitted in victory lane they struggled until they did a track rework before the feature to make the track racy bottom to the top of the track.
They will do it all over again tonight with more money on the line. Tonight's winner will get $50,047.
