Bobby Pierce was in a bad luck slump lately with the World of Outlaws but with the XR Super Series it's been all wins as he easily won the Minnesota Mega last night by three seconds over runner up Devin Moran. Pole sitter Ricky Thornton Jr rounds out the podium at Ogilvie Speedway.
Kyle Bronson topped the 33 entrants in qualifying. Ricky Thornton Jr , Cade Dillard , Devin Moran , and Mike Marlar took heat race wins while Brent Larson and Chad Mahder took B Main wins.
Thornton blasted out from his pole starting spot to set the early race pace. Thornton would hold the top spot until the sixth starting Pierce took it over and never looked back. Thornton would later say that he was too good too early and should have tighten the car up more.
The caution free 50 lap feature just need 13 minutes to go green to checkers. Point leader Devin Moran has five runner up finishes out of the last six races.
Pierce said he never knew how big of a lead he had as he couldn't see his dad's signals on the backstretch. Pierce loved the balance of his car and running caution free fit his setup for the winner.
Pierce will stay in Minnesota as the World of Outlaws will be at Deer Creek Speedway for $50,000 to win Gopher 50. Pierce hopes his gremlins are gone and try to climb up the season standings.
The next XR event will be held on July 7 at Fairmont Raceway in MN paying $15,000.
