Rodney Melvin Picks up UHoA Win at Bloomington

Rodney Melvin recovered from an opening lap penalty for jumping the start from his outside front row starting spot to claim the Ultimate Heart of America win at Bloomington Speedway last night. Jordan Wever and Tyler Collins would round out the podium.

22 Late Models would sign in as Kent Robinson topped qualifying. Cody Mahoney , Melvin , and Shelby Miles would take heat race wins to set the starting lineup. 19 cars would start the feature as Devin Gilpin , Trevor Landrum , and Jeffrey Shackleford would scratch from the A Main.

Pole sitter Mahoney would lead the first few laps before being forced to retire from the feature with a brake failure. That gave the lead to Kent Robinson who would lead until he slipped over the cushion. Robinson sold his family owned team during the off season was wheeling the Zak Blackwood 93 for the night.

Once Melvin took the lead after KRob's mistake he would go on and lead the rest of the way for his first win since a Summer National's win in 2012. Melvin pilots a Longhorn Chassis as this was the first series race of 2024. Unfortunately tonight's race at Paragon Speedway has already been called off for rain.
