Sometimes it's better to be running second when in lapped traffic and at last night's Lucas Oil Series race at Bubba Raceway that was the case. Ricky Thornton Jr was able to take the lead from Tyler Erb as they were taking the white flag and take the $10,000 payday.
Tyler Erb took the lead on lap 3 and throughout the feature held comfortable leads until he would catch the tail of the field. Each time he would encounter traffic Thornton , Davenport , and Devin Moran would reel in the leader.
With just a few laps left of the 40 lap Feature Erb had his hands full of the tail of the field battling for positions as Ricky Thornton Jr was reeling him in. Terbo seemed to be losing grip as he wasn't able to hold the bottom as he slipped up a lane exiting turn 4 allowing RTJ to get underneath Erb. Thornton would win by .448 over Tyler Erb , Devin Moran , Davenport , and Mike Marlar.
40 Lucas Oil Late Models took time as Tanner English took top time honors. Heat race winners were Davenport , Thornton, Tyler Erb , and birthday boy Mike Marlar. BShepp and Matt Cosner took B Main wins
