Ricky Thornton Jr picked up Lucas Oil win number three Friday night at All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville,FL beating runner up Devin Moran by 1.178. Hudson O'Neal rounded out the podium with his 3rd place finish.
49 Late Models would take time with Thornton taking the top time honors in Group A qualifying but Jimmy Owens would take overall top time from Group B.
Thornton Jr and Owens would win their heat races (1&4) to earn their front row starting spots. Hughes, Joiner , Moran , and O'Neal would pull off heat race wins to fill in the top 3 rows for the 50 lap $12,000 to win Feature.
Thornton bolted out to the lead and started fending off challenges from Joseph Joiner on lap 16. Joiner was utilizing the top side of the track to get to the runner up spot then tried to get underneath RTJ for the lead before the 20RT pulled back away from him.
Lap 27 would find Moran trying his shot for the lead applying pressure to the leader but once again Thornton would hold the lead.
On lap 34 Madden was trying to pass Moran in turn 3 and 4 but slid up and made contact with the 99. Moran kept his car straight but Madden was not as successful spinning around and gassing it up in attempt to keep his tires moving but shut it down when his nose was going for the infield tire.
Garrett Alberson would be the next one to make his bid for his first career Lucas win as he got to second on lap 39 but his great run came to an end on lap 41 as he would taste the turn 2 concrete.
Thornton would survive another restart on lap 47 for Cody Overton's tire issue and take the checkers leading all 50 laps in the SSI Motorsports Longhorn Chassis.
The series will race again tonight at All-Tech with $15,000 to the winner. Catch it live on FloRacing
