Tony Jackson Jr went unnoticed while running third when he went to the top side to go around second place running Gordy Gundaker and leader Dillon McCowan to win the $12,000 Ron Jenkins Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.
Dillon McCowan started the night off by setting fast time over the 29 car field sanctioned by MLRA. In heat race action both Simpson brothers took heat race wins along with McCowan, and Jackson Jr. Scott Crigler locked himself in by taking the B Main win.
Dillon McCowan took the lead on lap 3 of the 40 lap main event. Jackson Jr said in victory lane he seen the leader's stick guy telling McCowan to protect the bottom over Gundaker. The eventual winner knew then the only chance for victory is to go to the high groove and that's what he did as he went past both of them to win by just over a second.
It was Jackson's first series win since Labor Day weekend two years ago. He said he wore out Vinny on the phone to get his car better compared to a night ago. Vinny Guliani is a consultant who helps Longhorn/Bilstein drivers.
The next series race will be tonight at Moberly Motorsports Park in MO. for the Weiner Nationals paying $10,000 to the winner.
